The Romanian Chess Federation is honored to have been among the founding members of FIDE, with Mr. Ion Gudju’s presence in Paris in the summer of 1924.

In our endeavor to continue this esteemed tradition and also to celebrate the 100th anniversary of FIDE, Romania hosts the FIDE torch relay ceremony on July 4th in Bucharest.

During this period, two major events will be held there: the World School Team Chess Championship and the Grand Chess Tour.
