Casablanca Chess Week

The Casablanca Chess Week is an annual festival that showcases chess through several events in Casablanca, the largest city in the Kingdom of Morocco. It is organized by, Casablanca Events & Animation (representing the City) and Bourse de Casablanca (the Casablanca Stock Exchange), with the help of sponsors and partners.

This initiative aims to promote chess among all Casablanca residents, young and old, from any background or level of play. The wide range of activities will help them to discover or rediscover this game with its multiple facets and benefits.

The focus of this festival is to promote chess as a recreational, educational and competitive sport activity as well as a social tool. Its days are filled with masterclasses, conferences, workshops, and various playing activities.

Program:

May 17th

10am – Official opening: Official addresses + Ring the Bell

11am – Conference “The history of chess” by Mr Willy Icliky

3 pm – Community outreach: Visit to a cancer hospital or to an orphanage

May 18th

3pm – Torch ceremony

4pm – Centenary festival: African show, simultaneous exhibition 

5pm – Start of the Super Tournament

8pm – Gala dinner

May 19th

11am – Fun activity for FIDE delegates and guests

12pm – Chess in the Park: local tournaments, exhibition and demos

7 pm – Awards and closing ceremony
