In celebration of 100 years anniversary of the International Chess Federation, chess tournaments are being held globally. In this series, the Khelo Chess India International Rating Tournament is currently being played in Bhopal. Organized by ChessBase India, the tournament is being held at Sage International School, Kolar. After three rounds in this nine-round tournament, a total of 14 players are jointly leading with perfect scores, having won all their matches.
In the third round, the tournament’s top seed, Angela Franco from Colombia, defeated Abhinav Iyer of Gujarat playing with black pieces. On the second board, Kamad Mishra from Madhya Pradesh, playing with white pieces, triumphed over Ram Sharma from the same state in a long-drawn encounter. On the third board, Vedant Rupeshbhai of Gujarat defeated Shaurya Pratap Singh of Haryana, while on the fourth board, Rajiv Singh Parihar from Bhopal bested Shankar Murti, also from Bhopal. On the fifth board, Shresas from Delhi overcame Chirag Sureka of Rajasthan. Other players who have managed to win all their three matches include Dharmesh Delwar, Harshit Dawar, Anish Kushwaha, Nitin Jain, Kushagra Srivastava from Madhya Pradesh, GVB Srikar and Shaleen Mittal from Delhi, Ojas Joshi from Rajasthan, and Milind Parle from Haryana.
FIDE 100 Training Seminar Organized – As part of the FIDE 100 campaign celebrating the centenary of the World Chess Federation, a free training seminar was held today. International player and FIDE instructor Niklesh Jain provided the training. Approximately 120 people participated in this seminar.
