DESCRIPTION

Awarded for projects which use chess as a tool for positive social change and community empowerment. It honors initiatives that use chess to help tackle social challenges and/or support individuals struggling with addiction, loneliness, cognitive decline, social integration difficulties, incarceration, or displacement. 

The award aims to inspire and promote the expansion of social chess initiatives, recognizing their impact on individuals and communities around the globe.

CRITERIA

  1. Innovation: The extent to which the project demonstrates originality and creativity in leveraging chess to address social challenges. 
  2. Impact: The measurable positive effects of the social chess initiative on participants, communities, and target outcomes. 
  3. Sustainability: The project’s ability to maintain its activities and outcomes over time, including plans for future growth and expansion. 
  4. Community Engagement: The level of engagement and involvement of participants, stakeholders, and community partners in the project. 
  5. Collaboration: The extent to which the project collaborates with other organizations, institutions, or agencies to enhance its reach and effectiveness. 
  6. Visibility: Promotion of the project 
  7. Testimonials and Success Stories: The quality and impact of testimonials, success stories, or case studies demonstrating the effectiveness of the project in improving the lives of participants.
